CycleOut London
The forecast the night before was for heavy rain all afternoon. Based on that forecast I would definitely have cancelled the ride. However the morning dawned sunny and the forecast had improved so after some early morning texting the three of us decided to go ahead. Gerard cycled from Walthamstow and Robert from Islington, meeting at Halfway to Heaven before cycling to Leatherhead which I had sensibly reached by train.

We proceeded to Box Hill by the easier route via Headley.for refreshments at the NT cafe on proper china. Then down the beautifully surfaced Zigzag hill (Olympic legacy) across the A24 and up the North Downs again to Ranmore Common down to the A25 and up the Surrey Hills to Leith Hill - three big hills by this point. Down to Walliswood for lunch at a nice pub. Then back over Leith Hill by a different route (which seemed steeper) to Dorking. Robert and I collapsed on the train but Gerard said he was cycling back to Richmond (despite being knackered from a week's off road cycling in Wales).

Pleasant weather all day especially in the morning, lovely leafy lanes, good company and good exercise.
