After a stormy Saturday Sunday was calm and beautifully sunny. 10 riders assembled at Chelsfield. We soon encountered some flooding but none of it too bad until right at the end where feet got wet. The Kent Downs were looking stunning in the sunshine. Some of the roads were in terrible condition and short sections had to be walked but overall it was OK. Two punctures in the morning but fortunately Keith had the route on his Garmin so he was able to lead a faster group to the pub - a big help.
Nice traditional pub for lunch but the food was a bit mixed - good pies and burgers but terrible fish out of a packet. Service a bit slow.
The hills in the morning revealed that some of us were getting unfit over the winter. The afternoon was a bit easier and the roads were better. We lost Nasser near the end with a gear change problem. The rest of us made it to Orpington before dark despite the delays and a leisurely lunch.
