9 of us gathered at Berkhamsted, no no-shows and one new rider. It was a nice sunny morning ideal for cycling, a bit chilly at first but it soon warmed up. The route up to the Chilterns seemed less steep than the usual reverse route we often take. We encountered the remains of some snow and the first daffodils, a reminder of how late spring is.
Lunch was the challenge it often is but we ended up at the Rose & Crown in the lovely village of Wingrave where we were able to eat outside in the sun. One of us had two meals.
No hill immediately after lunch but one came later as we climbed back onto the Chilterns. After the ride ended at Berkhamsted one of us suggested tea at Sanuk which proved to be the proverbial five minutes away but was fun once we got there - totally kitsch and great cake.
Thanks to Peter for persevering with a great ride after the first attempt was frozen off.
